I remember Richard Boone from "Have Gun, Will Travel". Great western in an epoch of great westerns.

TV didn't arrive in New Zealand till 1960 so we didn't watch anything in the 50s but of these shows, only Gunsmoke, I Love Lucy, and Have Gun, Will Travel aired here that I remember. My American favourites were Sea Hunt, Cheyenne, Laramie, The Man from Uncle, The Monkees, and Get Smart but we also got many great UK shows, particularly comedies like On The Buses, Hugh and I, and Steptoe and Son, and of course Doctor Who was the best SciFi show in 1964.

Liked all those shows except the westerns. Dragnet was probably my favorite- loved that no-nonsense Joe Friday- "Just the facts, ma'am, just the facts.'

We got our first TV in 1958 and were absolutely thrilled to watch it. We only had 2 channels but it was so much fun to gather around TV that we even watched the news, lol. We watched and loved all these shows but I was a little older when I watched Have Gun Will Travel because it was on later at night and I had to go to bed. :-(

There were a lot of good shows on back in the day and very enjoyable because they mirrored daily lie of the time. Programs now are not nearly as good. Variety shows like Ed Sullivan, Carol Burnett. Red Skelton, Dean Martin, Tennessee Ernie Ford. Jack Benny, George Burns and Gracie Allen brought wonderful skits and laughter to our mundane life. I remember watching Gene Autry, Roy Roger's and Dale Evans, Cisco Kid, Zorro and The Lone Ranger as a child.many good memories from tht time of my life.
