Jimmy Nelson is a photographer from the UK, who took marvelous pictures of the last tribes living on our planet. This project was made for us to learn about these people and to save the memories about them. Nowadays, such tribes are gradually dying being unable to fight with the circumstances, growing globalization, developing of modern technologies. Here are some facts about the tribes Jimmy Nelson took photos of. We bet you'll like them!
Asaro, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea
To protect themselves, people of this tribe cover their bodies with mud and wear scary masks. The legend says that one day this tribe had to flee from their enemies into the Asaro river that is why their bodies became dirty with mud. When the enemies saw them rising from the waters of the river, they thought they were spirits. From that moment, the neighbors of the tribe think that the spirits of the river are on Asaro's side.
Maasai, Kenya and Tanzania
This is one of the most well-known tribes in the world. Boys of Maasai must pass several cruel tests to become real men and to prove that they are able to be defenders of the tribe and family.
Nenets, Siberia - Yamal
The Nenets are reindeer herders. They still lead a roving life and for more than 1000 years survive with temperature up to -58.0 °F (-50 °C).

Karo, Ethiopia
This tribe lives on the banks of the Omo river. They paint geometrical ornaments on their bodies using chalks, grass, ocher and coal. Sometimes these "pictures" resemble feathers of a bird or spots of a leopard. Karo also like to put flowers into their hair to finish the look.
Kazakh, Mongolia
This tribe has been living in the mountains and valleys of western Mongolia since the 19th century. The ancient art of eagle hunting is one of many traditions and skills of these people. They believe in several Gods and supernatural powers including good and evil spirits.
Rabari, India
Nowadays, these people live in Gujarat and Rajasthan. Women here are in charge of all money matters, while men are in most cases on the move with the herds.
Mustang, Nepal
This tribe is one of the last truly Tibetan tribes existing in the world. Till 1991 these people didn't allow anybody to enter the tribe or even take a picture of them. These people still believe that the earth is flat, their traditions are similar with those of early Buddhism. They are very religious, prayers and festivals in honor of Gods are a part of their life.
Maori, New Zealand
Maori believe in several Gods and spirits. They think that supernatural power is a part of their everyday life and these spirits help the tribe to survive.
Goroka, Papua New Guinea
This tribe lives in the highland villages, surviving by hunting, gathering plants and growing crops. They color their bodies and put on special accessories to frighten enemies with which they usually had to fight.
