The language of flowers was invented in The East. Eastern people accepted following features as important ones:
- The time flowers were gifted;
- The way the person granting the bunch of flowers holds it;
- The way the inflorescences directed: up or down;
- The hand the bucket of flowers is held;
- Embellishment of the flowers with green;
- Having the thorns of a rose removed.

I don't think the flower color yellow should represent anything negative. It is a bright & cheery color - meant to be uplifting.

Asphodel is a flower part of the Lily family, and symbolised regret. Wormwood is a plant that represented absence and created loss.
So in his own cryptic way, our potioneer was saying that his feelings towards Harry's mother would go with him to the grave, of which, indeed they did.

I love flowers and their colours, especially the gold yellow. It is said that yellow also means jealousy, but depends on the colour. There are different shades of yellow.
